Stoneman

Thanks so much for stopping by my website and checking out my music.  I hope you enjoy my work and will sign up for my email list so I can keep you updated on up coming projects as well as my recent songwriting accomplishments.  You are listening to "Throw Up The Peace Sign" a new song fresh out of the studio (04-15-2012) and never heard before now.  Like always, all music and vocals are produced and performed by me (Stoneman).  It is followed by "I've Had Enoough" which just won a "Finalist" award in the 2011 Song Of The Year  Songwriting Contest Hip-Hop category.  It placed in the top 5 out of thousands of entries from all over the world. In addition to this, it was a "Finalist" in the 2011 Great American Songwriting Contest.

I am especially proud of this song as the message is near and dear to my heart.  It is an anti-gang violenc
e song.  I was inspired by my own personal history and experiences with gang violence.  I grew up on the mean streets of South Central Los angeles and am a former perpetrator of the street gang culture.  I know first hand the effects of street gang violence and the thug mentality.  I was changed over 40 years ago by the grace of God and given a new mission in life.  It is so sad to see these young men and women out there waging war against eachother.  But, to also know that a large portion of the shooting victims are innocent children who have absolutely nothing to do with gang violence.  The most recent, a one year old, was gunned down along with 7 other peole in Oakland Ca. and was on life support in a Northern California hospital for 11 days before he passed away.  So, it is my hope and prayer that this song and message will become a catylist for positive change.  I've Had Enough!

These are more of my recent award winning songs:

"You Need Therapy", "Crazy InThe Hood", "Say You Love Me Now", "A Deeper Meaning"

"You Need Therapy":  Recently this song won an "Outstanding Achievement In Songwriting Award" as it placed in the top 5 of the R&B/Hip-Hop category in the 12 Annual Great American Song Writing Contest.  This song went head to head with songs from all over the world.  It is followed by "In The Hood" which won the same award last year in the R&B Hip_Hop category.  So, this means that my orginal work has been in the top five two years in a row.  In addition to this, "In The Hood" won a semi-finalist award in the 2010 Song Of Ther Year Contest.  Both songs are featured on my new CD "Therapy, This Time It's personal" which is due to be released shortly.

I wrote "You Need Therapy" in order to bring attention to women who allow men to mistreat them and cheat on them.  They allow themselves to be treated like they are unworthy of love that is built on respect and sincere love.  The song is a plea for them to seek therapy in order to boost their self esteem.

"In The Hood"
brings social commentary about the neighborhood (South Central Los Angeles) I grew up in.  One little known fact is that the intro of "In The Hood" is an actual recording of the Los Angeles Police Blotter from the Watts Riots in 1965.  This song is an artistic portrait of the stark realities faced by so many people who struggle for survival in slums all over the USA and even the world.  Once again Stoneman brings "The Real" to the worldwide musical landscape.  The Great American Songwriting Contest is judged by some of the music industries most influential and accomplished artists, producers and top tier entities.  I am so honored to have been selected two years in a row.

"Say You Love Me Now"
won a "Finalist" award in the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Songwriting contest.  It won in the R&B/Urban category.

"A Deeper Meaning" just won 3rd place in the 2011 Dallas Songwriting Contest (Love Song Category).  I guess I am truly having an award winning year.  Anyway, this song will also be appearing on my new CD.
